It’s been a rough week. Â The 2016 election cycle has been historically vile, but this week when it all came to a head, the ugliness and invective made a lot of us sad and upset. Â The comments on my Facebook feed became so divisive that I just couldn’t look at them anymore. Â So in order to help take the edge off the craziest, most uncivilized presidential campaign in modern history, I give to you a very pleasant, easy to enjoy cocktail recipe. Â SOMEthing should be easy for us after all the mudslinging and negativism we’ve endured the last year or so. Â I think I can speak for most people when I say that I am glad it’s over. Â I want to check out Facebook to see where my friends are traveling and what their kids are up to, not what they think will happen to Obamacare or same-sex marriage. Â I know social media is about whatever the user wants it to be, but I want it to go back to what it was for me, or at least less political.
Here’s the recipe-
Caramel Apple Amnesty Cider
1 1/2 oz apple rum (I used Bacardi Big Apple, but Skyy makes a Honeycrisp Apple vodka that would make a delicious substitute)
1 oz caramel vodka (I used Pinnacle salted caramel)
3 oz apple cider
Prosecco or your favorite champagne
Fill a large rocks glass with ice and add the first three ingredients. Â Top with 2-3 oz of your favorite champagne, then squeeze a lemon wedge on top.
This sounds like a lovely fall drink, Monica. I’ll have to try some
Hope you like it, Georgia- it’s also good without the champagne if you don’t have any on hand. Wait, who am I talking to? You always have champagne!
Wow, this sounds wonderful! Wonder if a cinnamon stick would be good? Thanks for another winner Monica. I’m so exhausted by the election, I can’t think about it anymore either. Good thing it’s once every four years! xo
Yes, a cinnamon stick actually sounds better than the lemon- good call, Fran! And I know what you mean about feeling exhausted 🙂
