Cranberry Lemon Drop

Happy February folks!  Or as we like to say in the frigid Northeast, the month of the never-ending snowstorms.  Actually I believe the snow is supposed to stop today, so I’m being a bit dramatic.  We’ve had very mild winters the last few years so I’m just surprised when we actually have winter weather here. It’s to be expected I suppose.

So last year my husband and I did a dry February.  You may recall that February 2020 was the last semi-normal month we had before Covid hit us.  If we’d had any idea what was awaiting us in the months after February, I think we would have drunk MORE and not less.  But we wanted to prove to ourselves that we could teetotal for a month and we did it.

This year there is NO WAY IN HELL that I am doing a dry any month.  Drinking less will not be a goal of mine until we get through Covid.  With all of the restrictions in place right now, Momma needs her cocktails.  Although I am abstaining on Mondays, the rest of the week is fair game.  Call me weak, I don’t mind.

So whether you are drinking less or more these days, I have a new cocktail for you, a Cranberry Lemon Drop.  It’s a combination of a Cosmopolitan and a Lemon Drop and hopefully sounds as delightful to you as it does to me. Here’s hoping that we can all get to the market to buy the ingredients if we didn’t stock up before the bad weather hit.

Cranberry Lemon Drop

2 oz Deep Eddy’s lemon vodka

1 oz triple sec

1 oz cranberry juice

1 oz sweet and sour mix

Splash Sprite or lemon lime soda

Combine first four ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously.  Strain into a martini glass rimmed with sugar, then top with a splash of Sprite.  Garnish with a lemon wheel. Enjoy!!
