When it comes to crafting new cocktails, I am usually very enthusiastic and excited to put together something new. But lately I have been feeling a bit uninspired. I thought that maybe it was because I am insanely busy this time of year (like most of you, I’m sure), or that I got complacent and just poured the quickest or easiest drink when I got home from work. But I am coming around to the notion that maybe I just needed to make a run to the liquor store and buy a few bottles of something new. Because after I made a trip to Total Wine last weekend, the ideas are (literally) pouring out! So I think I just needed to restock not only my liquor cabinet, but my mixers as well. There are so many different ways to enjoy a lovely relaxing cocktail at home after those long work days. Especially now that it’s dark at 5pm and the temps are too chilly (actually they’re downright freezing here) to enjoy outdoor activities. I am pretty much in my PJs no later than 6pm these days. By that point, there’s no use in trying to get any meaningful housework done. So I am parking myself in my living room, in front of either the television or a roaring fire, and knocking back something tasty.
I have been checking out lots of holiday cocktails on Pinterest lately, and something I wanted to put my own spin on was a sugar cookie martini. I sampled a sweet liqueur a few weeks ago at the liquor store called Stroopwafel, which tastes like a liquid waffle cone. Uh, YUM!!! Although I resisted buying a regular-sized bottle at the time, I did buy a small sample size (like the kind you get on airline flights), and knew it would be perfect for this type of drink. I only added a couple other ingredients, and voila! A sweet holiday delight.
Here’s the recipe-
Sugar Cookie Martini
This might be the something sweet you crave after dinner instead of real sugar cookies, or whatever sweets you probably have around your house this time of year. Go have one now, since after the New Year, I’ll be posting all the low calorie drinks for our healthier 2017 diets. Enjoy!!
