I was highly impressed with how thorough this author was in doing her research. She obviously knows her stuff and can speak to both the novice cocktail mixer and the more experienced sippers. Beginners will appreciate her index of terms and tools at the beginning of the book. For the more experienced mixologist, she offers an amazing variety of combinations and ingredients. The chapter on batch drinks is what I found most useful, especially at this time of year when it's just easier to make larger quantities for your guests.
